I think if he accomplishes anything it will be a minor miracle considering what he inherited and has to juggle in terms of vested interests and overinflated expectations.

The bottom line is that he is the best thing that could have happened to the country at this point and we should give him time to succeed.

Regarding readership, I do get visitor statistics for each page on my site–hence I know that someone in Aphasiatown, OH, is using Safari on a Mac–but I have no idea how many visitors actually read any of the content provided as opposed to, say, merely drop by to to throw tootsie rolls at the screen or to heat their living rooms with the warmth emanating from the perennial torch in my banner.

But he’s only 1/3 of his way through his first term. This descent was inevitable, given the heights of coolness from which he started. Truman had a similar low at this point, which is when he fired MacArthur. But he came back by doing big and bold things.

My guess is that from here, it’s a valley, then an ascent.
