This is my new song. The lyrics are posted here. It has a very long intro, which is nice, because that way my singing doesn’t start ruining the tune until about a minute into it:

You have a gentle voice; this song is beautiful. I like the way you stop singing and speak toward the end of the song. I noticed the paradox of the night and the light ending. The only question I have about the lyrics concerns the broken chandelier. I’m not sure why that is the symbol of this lost relationship.

I don’t know. I just figured a chandelier symbolizes something beautiful, and a broken chandelier symbolizes something that used to be beautiful and can never be restored to its former splendor. That said, I’m not too thrilled with my lyrics-writing abilities. But then I guess flawed, even dumb, lyrics are better than no lyrics at all. At least it gives me something to sing other than “lah-lah-lah-lah-lah.”

That makes sense. I was not suggesting the lyrics to the song are flawed. They are not!

A wistful and beautiful song, CQ. Let’s have some more like that.

Sure. Coming right up. My next song will be called Broken Light Bulbs, the one after that Broken Flashlights.

Or simply, Swing on a Broken Chandelier

          Either that or The Monkey.
