A Boy Named GAL

George Alexander Louis

Presumably, the Cambridges figured there hasn’t been a King George to harry (no pun intended) the wayward colonialists in so long, so they named their first-born moppet George Alexander Louis.

Johnny Cash, of course, would be having a field day immortalizing in song the future king of the empire on which the Sun sets multiple times a day.

Given Will & Kate’s manifest penchant for the subliminal, should the royal GAL get a brother, how about naming him Urban Samuel Albert?

You’ve ruined it all for me. I shall never think of my future king in the same way again.

Mind, it’s better than Beatrice Olive Yolande.

This could become a trend. Ahh yes -- it was intentional, for one reason or another.

    I feel better now.

It must have been intentional. Given how much time and consideration most likely went into picking the royal baby’s names, it strains credulity that no one did an acronym check.

Please arrange for three names to be added so we have

George Alexander Louis Lenin Oliver Philip.

That should satisfy most minority factions and perpetuate the sport of kings.

I’d better lest the future king’s shrink will have a lot of work to do. Nothing more potentially dangerous to world peace than a psychologically traumatized sovereign.

Forgive me, but I’m still numb from the gooey coverage of the event and can only think of name that would capture the diversity of the British Empire such as it is: Yusef Abraham William Nkosana.

I forgive you, but that’s not the point. You must seek forgiveness from your Queen … she is your Queen, is she not?

      • testazyk

Correct. But she probably welcomes my ennui!

That’s right. Better a bored colonialist than one with a lengthy train of serious grievances.

Did you think of this on your own?

    • http://blog.cyberquill.com/ Cyberquill

Yes. The moment I read “George Alexander Lois,” Johnny Cash’s “A Boy Named Sue” flashed into my mind. A split-second association that, I am sure, millions of people have had, including Kate & William as soon as they’d picked those names in that order, probably thinking it was kind of cute. And, in a way, it is.

Most likely, at this time there exist thousands of blog posts and articles titled “A Boy Named GAL,” all created independently of one another.
